Have you ever seen how dogs curl up for sleeping? I was watching my dog the other day and noticed how comfortable she was in this position… inspiration hit me and I came up with this dog bed pattern.
This bed is like a round pillow but with a button in the middle. The button makes a dent and creates a nice comfortable nest for the pup to curl up.
It's soft, it's round and it's easy to make! What better way to treat your dog to a new bed.
It doesn't matter if your pet is large or small, he needs a place to rest and call his own.
Give this bed a try, I'm sure he'll really like it. Plus, it has a side zipper that makes it easily washable.
Here are the dog bed pattern instructions.
Hand baste the 10" open space.
Remove the hand basting. You should have a hole with the edges pressed towards the inside.
Place your zipper in the opening and match its edges to the fabric's. Hand baste them together.
Clip the seams (only from the part you've already sewn) and press on the right side. Your zipper should be hiding between the two circles, it should look something like this:
Sew a rectangle around your zipper on the right side of fabric. The hard part is done!
Make small cuts on the seam allowance all the way around the circle and turn inside out.
Double thread a needle and hand baste around the large circle's edge. Make a knot at the beginning, but leave a long thread at the end.
Put some fiber fill in the middle and put the button on top.
Pull the thread to gather the circle around the button.
Sew a few small stitches to keep the thread from sliding and knot.
Put some glue on top of the gathered fabric and paste the small circle. Cover the small circle's edges with glue so they don't come undone. Wait until it's completely dry.
Next, put the needle across the back of your fabric button.
Pull it out and then put it back in to make a loop.
Insert the needle through the pillow, right beside the first piece of cord.
You should now have the button on one side and two long pieces of cord on the other one. Knot them together and clip the excess. Let the cord be loose so that you can stuff the pillow.
